Our BOLD intention

The BOLD Library of Birth Truths is a library of film, written words and art that tell the story of how mothers are giving birth today – through their eyes. Through the gathering of birth stories from our BOLD Red Tent locations BOLD will create a traveling exhibit to educate, tell the truth and inspire people around the world to take action to make maternity care mother-friendly. The BOLD Library of Birth Truths will also be available for researchers to access.

What's in the library?

Each BOLD Red Tent location is asked to submit their community's birth stories as told by mothers through one of the following:

Video – this can be raw or edited footage of a BOLD Red Tent, sit-down interviews with local mothers about their birth stories, or "on the street" interviews with mothers about their birth stories.

Written Word – some BOLD Red Tents will ask mothers to write their birth stories either at the BOLD Red Tent or before entering the BOLD Red Tent. We encourage all birth stories to give as many details as possible and for the mothers to reflect not just on the facts of their births, but also on how they were feeling internally at the time.

Visual art – mothers will be ask at some BOLD Red Tents to draw a picture of their birth and give it a one word name, other BOLD Red Tents will ask mothers to create a mural of their birth scene; the posibilities are endless!

When will the BOLD Library of Birth Truths be available?
