BOLD Locations
Houston, Texas

Well, we did it - I can hardly believe it is over - it was a great
success.
At the dress rehearsal - the night before opening night - the fire marshall appeared
at our old but charming theater and wanted to close us down. That tuned into
an escalation of a supervisor being called - then the police so it was midnight
before everyone went home with understanding and shaking hands. We thought it
was over - the owner received a citation - then opening night the fire marshall
came back to say they would be returning to close us down the next night but
they didn't show up again!
Everything came together - we didn't have the attendance we thought we would
- didn't sell as many tickets as we had hoped - but the cast was AWESOME - FABULOUS
- I wish the whole world could have seen this incredible cast perform this play
Our talkbacks were each very different but each one very productive - one OB
is still talking about how good it was every time I see him - he was truly impressed,
mostly with the play and the actors. He did say in the talkback that we were
just a very very small group and he didn't think we could change the world (not
his exact words but my interpretation of what he said) - I quoted Margaret Mead
to him and then lectured him on how many ways we have changed the way we birth
in the US in the past 30 years - all because of a very small group of committed
women and parents!
We did a red tent which everyone (about 20 men, women, children + babies) loved
it - it was very powerful.
I would say it was a huge success even though I think our attendance was low
but it doesn't matter . We are learning how to do better each year ! I love doing
BOLD - being a part of it - I think it is such a powerful way to reach people,
to speak the truth about birth in our country, and I am very grateful to be a
part of it
Thank you Karen Brody and thank you to everyone who supports her work!
